With roots as far back as 1777, Calvary United Methodist Church is an established, well known place of worship, located in Annapolis, Maryland. In addition to their worship services and preschool, they provide a number of Congregational and Discipleship Ministries, including Music & Arts, Gifts of Grace and Light House Shelter. They also offer several Fellowships, such as United Methodist Women and United Methodist Men! They also share their facilities with many organizations that help the community. Because of this, it’s imperative they have quality communications among their staff, members and community, and other like-minded organizations.
Calvary United Methodist Church has been a customer with GTB for nearly 10 years. Six years ago, they decided to upgrade their phone system to accommodate four classrooms in the preschool and provide a security measure to allow the office and teachers to communicate via phones and over an Intercom system. They also needed a way for teachers to cross communicate with the school office and other preschool classrooms without being interrupted during class sessions. Additionally, Calvary wanted their community to be able to call the church and have the option of immediately being directed to their staff’s voicemail or reaching the front desk and speaking to a live person.
GTB continues to assess Calvary’s needs and customizes phone and Internet packages accordingly. We started by providing Calvary with our traditional phone service and over the years transitioned our service offerings to meet their growing needs. Today, Calvary uses our hosted PBX solution, Flex•Point™. GTB upgraded their equipment and configured the services to include features such as, Auto Attendant, Fax to Email and Music on Hold. The new features were bundled as a tailored solution that also provides Internet service and local and long distance calling. All phones are cross-connected using newly installed inside wiring. Calvary United’s staff was personally trained at their location on how to use and manage the phones and system features to enhance their productivity. With GTB’s system, Calvary now has open communication between their offices and classrooms and flexibility for community members who call in.
